About Art Le Stay
Art Le Stay is a place to stay in Auroville built around two things we care about: comfortable hospitality and Indian contemporary art. We're located just past the Auroville Visitor Centre, tucked among trees, with a pool to unwind in, home-cooked South Indian meals on request, and easy reach of both Auroville and Pondicherry.
Our tagline says it best: come as guest, leave as family. Most of our guests are families, friends travelling together, or small groups — so our rooms, from 4-guest to 8-guest options, are built around togetherness rather than isolated hotel-style units.
A stay, and an art gallery
What makes Art Le Stay different is our on-site art gallery. Alongside your room and pool access, guests can walk through a private collection of original paintings by artists connected to the Cholamandal / Madras Art Movement tradition — and if a piece speaks to you, it's available to buy. Every guest gets to experience the gallery as part of their stay, whether or not they choose to take a painting home.
This is central to why we exist: Art Le Stay's larger purpose is to promote Indian contemporary art and give it a home outside the usual gallery walls, and to give artists themselves a place to stay, exhibit, and connect with people who care about their work.
