Art Le Stay is home to a private collection of original paintings by two respected South Indian artists connected to the Cholamandal / Madras Art Movement tradition — G Raman, known for his intricate lace-like linework and ornate figures on dark backgrounds, and M Suriyamoorthy, known for his folk and mythological imagery and hand-prepared natural pigments. Every piece below is part of our on-site collection.
A note on pricing
The price ranges shown are indicative estimates, not formal appraisals. We arrived at them by researching how these two artists' work is generally priced in galleries and past auction records (sources available on request) and scaling by size and medium.
M Suriyamoorthy in particular has a wide value range — his major exhibited oil paintings have reached several lakh rupees at auction, while smaller works trade far lower. For an accurate valuation of any specific piece, especially before a sale, we recommend a certified art appraiser.
